When shooting features as part of an event, I wanted to give myself lots of time before the action started and time to roam about observing during and afterward. It was a brisk and very sunny morning and I did find myself needing to change settings often, especially ISO, depending on which way I was facing in regard to the sun.

This event was a blast to capture. Everyone was in a festive mood, there was lots of color, light and action. I knew when choosing an event to shoot, I would want to find one with interest built in. Then it was just about showing up, watching, talking with people and taking lots and lots of pictures.

This was the most fun I've had shooting manually yet. Not everything came out perfectly of course, but with 85+ photos, and checking results along the way, I knew there would be some fun moments.
